Snoring Isn't Sexy, LLC Launches Survey to Determine Extent of Drowsy Drivers on Land, Sea and In The Air
New York, NY (Vocus) June 22, 2009 -- Snoring Isn't Sexy (http://www.snoringisntsexy.com/)® announces the launch of an anonymous, confidential survey to determine the extent of drowsy Truck Drivers, Bus Drivers, Commuter Train Operators, Airline Pilots, Railroad Engineers, Heavy Machinery Operators and Ship Captains. This survey, part of a research project in process by Snoring Isn't Sexy, LLC, asks visitors to identify their professions (Truck Drivers, Bus Drivers, Commuter Train Operators, Airline Pilots, Railroad Engineers, Heavy Machinery Operators and Ship Captains) and then take the Epworth Daytime Sleepiness Scale. The results will be published at the completion of the survey period.

Dr. Barsh stated in a recent interview "Several dentist members of Snoring Isn't Sexy have commented that their airline pilot and truck driver patients are resistant to answering questions about snoring (http://www.snoringisntsexy.com/snoring-mouthpiece-onecolumn.cfm) and sleep apnea (http://www.snoringisntsexy.com/sleep-apnea-treatment-onecolumn.cfm) for fear that a positive response and subsequent treatment might cost them their jobs. Because of this lack of testing and follow-up treatment, the problem continues to get worse as excessively sleepy people drive our trucks, fly our planes, engineer our trains and captain our ships resulting in an ever increasing accident and death rate. Snoring Isn't Sexy has decided to take an active role in determining the extent of the problem with an anonymous screening survey."
This survey is a precursor to an effort to establish a nation-wide confidential, anonymous in-person screening and treatment program for sleep apnea with names hidden from employers, insurance companies and the government for people in those industries that affect the public.
